Moving your domain and hosting with RootedHosting
Current provider:
There are quite a few domain providers, sadly we can't link them all in this KB but following these guides you can get away from overcharging and worsening services and move to RootedHosting!
We strive to offer the best and fairest service including these useful docs to provide some clarity to a sometimes baffling amount of technical 'cloud' jargon designed to keep you trapped and overpaying for what is effectively someone elses computer.
Here are some resources to follow to move your domains from some of the 'big names':
You can request any provider to move away by email support, they may just give you a link to follow though.
Our recommendation - Cloudflare:
For now we use Cloudflare for our domain name servers, these are the servers that live on the internet and all traffic can reach in order to connect to your website, create an account with them directly or move to our cloudflare zone.
Cloudflare offer a great free security service and protection from bots, AI theft, spam, and direct denial of service (DDOS) attacks and each year you will get the renewal price for the address you own, such as rootedenergy.co.uk.
Cloudflares guide linked above shows you how to onboard and point at your website, if you're not sure at any point we can assist with this process.
In the future we will be offering a complete package but for now and with the extra layers of security Cloudflare is a fantastic option - as with anything on the internet though if this changes we will update this KB.
Once your domain is moved to Cloudflare:
Set your cname DNS settings to our nameserver as shown below:

nsx01.rootedhosting.co.uk
We know that this can be a complicated process so if you need help with any of it please contact us at hello@rootedhosting.co.uk or if you are in my phonebook feel free to call me.
